Merry Christmas Lucien. I wish I spoke French. Maybe you can give the translation for those of us that don't. Thank you my friend.

"Les Cloches de mon Village"

"The Church Bells of my Village"

Hello Bobby my dear friend from USA America. Although it is very hard to translate in exact words French Poetry in English Prose, I'll try to do my best humbly and with pride about of what I composed in my own cultural French language and I thought it was a very beautiful time of the year in Christmas season to share it.

It is about the vision of the Church bells of a small village that were singing in the horizon, a beautiful song and a very, very old melody coming also from a very old and ancient City , the one of Sidon, thousands of years ago and about an old maxim(adage) from a Sage of that time.

In the 1st verse ending it says" Coeur qui partage ne craint point les saisons" it means that a heart that shares is not afraid of the seasons.

In the 2nd verse, the bells were dancing in the valley on the horizon, they were dancing on a "gaillarde" a dance from the early Middle Age in Old France and in the poetry, music played and sung by a poet-troubadour that was known as "Villon" (François Villon was his name and he was the 1st poet that we know of in French Litterature in the early Middle Age in Old France. In my poem I used him in the end of the 2nd verse saying :"Coeur qui prend garde ne craint point les sillons" meanning sort of that a heart that is on guard is not affraid of being hurt (but expressed in poetry language)

And the 3rd verse says that the bells of my village were singing and dancing and sending a message of Hope that a heart that engages is not afraid of the harvest. There are 3 maxims in the poem.

Merry Christmas, Bobby, Angela dear friend (if you see my little poem) and all of my friends of the vine and also all those of goodwill in this world through Google or Bing.

Merci beaucoup Bobby and Thank you very much to all. Peace and Prosperity for you and your loved ones for 2012 +....

Lucien, my eldest son who studied French for two or four years said that many of your beautiful words could be lost in the english translation. It is best to know French & understand your language. He really enjoyed your poem. He smiled.
I thank you for your lovely words, my dear friend. May you have a wonderful day & the rest of the week while we get ready for a New Year here..
